How long have you played with the APC?
This was my first season (Season 32 Summer 2014) with the APC. I started two weeks into the season.

How long have you been playing Texas Hold’em?
Played regular poker since I was ten years old. Played Texas Hold’em since 2006, and then became a Tournament Director about six months later with the Extreme Poker Tour and Nationwide Poker Tour.

How did it feel to win the Grand Championship?
Exhilerating! Surprising!

Who has influenced your play the most?
Daniel Negreanu and Greg Raymer. It’s their style of play and the way they handle the play and not let things get to them. They don’t go on tilt.

What is your advice for new players?
Think. Two key words in this game: patience and discipline. I made this acronym up: CAPPM. Things you should think about every time it is your turn to act: Cards, Action, Players, Position, and Money. Keep your head in the game and don’t be distracted by the bad things that happen and don’t let the bad players take you out of the game. The best poker advice I ever heard was from Greg Raymer: play every hand the best it can be played, which means that most of them have to be folded.

What are your goals in the APC?
To win the APC $10,000 Main Event.

Have you ever played in a WSOP or WPT event?
I did win entry but haven’t played yet. Have played in tournaments and cash games in Biloxi.

Would you like to make any other comments?
The Atlanta Poker Club is a very good league and professionally run. Very impressed with it.

John Davis had 8 wins his first season with the APC. We wish him luck in his World Series of Poker or World Poker Tour Tournament Event!
